Bad Boy Records x Supreme “Biggie” Collection
August 22, 2011
Quietly included in Supreme’s latest collection is an instant-hit collaboration with Bad Boy Records set to serve as an homage to the late and great Notorious B.I.G. Featuring a classic screen-printed box T-shirt as well as a keychain, the collaborative set highlights the famous image of Keithroy Yearwood, an afro-crowned baby randomly cast into history as the cover image for Biggie’s Ready to Die. Sure to be one of “those” iconic Supreme tees that will sellout swiftly and without abandon, the shirt and accompanying keychain are set to drop on August 27th at Supreme in NYC.
Converse History
May 19, 2011
When you think of Converse you automatically think about the famous “All Star” sneaker right? Well, the man that started the company is Marquis Converse, and the company was named Converse Rubber Corporation located in Massachusetts. The first basketball shoe was made by Converse in 1917, better known as the Converse All Star. After that Charles H. “Chuck” Taylor a basketball player for the Akron Firestones supported Converse All Star sneaker, and joined Converse in 1921.
In 1923, due to all Chuck’s hard work in promoting the shoe his signature name “Chuck Taylor” was added to the patch on the ankle. Since then the shoe is known to everyone as “Chuck Taylor” All Stars and became the popular basketball shoe for teams all over the world. In 1966, Converse started making different colored All Stars to match the different basketball teams. “Chuck Taylor” passed in 1969, but he is the reason Converse is so popular and successful. He’s a true legend to the “Shoe Game”. Julius “Dr. J Erving also helped Converse while he was seen on the courts hooping in All Stars.
In 1976, Dr. J joined Converse with his own signature shoe that was later was nicknamed the “Dr. J’s”. Converse had great success for a long period of time, however in 2001, they had to file bankruptcy. Converse shut down the US factory and moved to Asia. The tables turned in July 2003, when Nike bought Converse for $300+ million. Nike decided to keep the original “Chuck Taylor” look, and they retroed many of Converse older models. Nike owns Converse now, but Converse is and will always be remembered in the “Shoe Game”. They made a mark in sneaker history that can’t be removed.
Converse has teamed up with some of the best athletes. Charles H. “Chuck Taylor”, Julius “Dr. J” Erving, Larry Johnson, Magic Johnson, Kevin Johnson, Dwyane Wade and many more.
These New Nike Air Royal’s Are Kinda Fly (Pics)
May 9, 2011
gotta give Nike props for their latest release, the Nike Air Royal Mid Mesh VT. Unlike past Air Royal releases Nike decided to use a mesh covering for this sneaker. From the pictures it looks like it’s a regular white sneaker with a colored mesh covering on the outside. And I have to give it to them, although it sounds kind of odd the mesh covering gives the sneaker a really unique look.
The matching colored laces and translucent sole also work well with the Nike Air Royal Mesh. I have somewhat of an obsession when it comes to red sneakers so I’m of course sold on the red pair. Although not as vibrant as the red pair, the black/grey sneaker still has an interesting look to it thanks to the mesh covering.
The price for the Nike Air Royal Mesh is still unclear, but the sneaker will be available in select Nike stores towards the end of the month so be sure to keep an eye out.
